The last two yrs I had small porch type trees this year I went big ! It helps that i work in a gift store that has Christmas yr round . I have collected Old World Glass orn . for several yrs ...now I can display them properly .

...i went to a gathering a few weeks ago (a luncheon for some pioneer sisters).

we had turkey burgers, salad, fruit salad, etc.

one of the sister (an eighteen year old sister) and me were having a conversation (i'm not a pioneer by the way, and i wasnt going out in field service, just visiting, i live down the street from this sisters house).

And it is not just the young that remain fearful .....I ran into a pioneer sister a couple of yrs ago and when I asked if she was a grandmother yet she nearly started to cry . Oh her daughter and son in law are crazy over their friends baby and she was AFRAID it would make them want a baby too . When I said that would be great to have grandchildren ,she was shaking her head saying NO not in this terrible time of the end .....I just smiled and said I couldn't wait to have grandchildren .

I remember thinking that way to when I was young . Being so afraid my babies would suffer during the Great Tribulation . When I was 8 months pregnant with our youngest child back in 1987 the summer convention had a horrible talk intitled " Responsible Child Rearing in this Time of the End " It basically made you feel like such an idiot to choose to have children at this time instead of concentrating on the preaching work .......I wanted to crawl under a rock during that talk . Oh and now look all my babies are grown and ready to have families of their own .

I also remember talking to a pioneer sister that was just so upset and worried about starting a family (this was 15 yrs ago ) . SHe was truly upset because her husband wanted kids ,but she had been raised as a witness and fully indoctrinated in fear of the end . He finally must have prevailed because they now have three girls !

So much time ,energy and happiness is wasted in this horrible religion .

i've recently been involved in a thread in which one of the participants, member of this board since april last year and who has made over 1200 posts, had not been aware of the 1975 failure.

isn't that unusual?

it tells me that this board is inefficient at getting the message out.

I agree with Black Sheep's post . There is no agenda for this forum ....it is a place to discuss Jw related issues . Many in their 20-30's have no real knowledge of the 1975 fiasco ....those that lived through it are really the only ones that really know what happened . Since the 1980's the society has downplayed anything to do with that date so why would anyone in the last few yrs think it was a big an issue ?

In fact I think most people that have come into the org. in the past 20 yrs have such a basic ,simplistic knowledge of the JW history it pales compared to what we studied back in the 60's.

Have you seen the youtube video of the news reporter traveling to Disney with his wife and three yr old daughter ? You would not be making so many jokes if you heard the sheer terror in the little girls voice as she screamed " STOP touching me ! DON't do that ....STOP " ......I can not imagine doing that to a child . Her teddy bear had been taken from her to go through xray ,which made her cry . Because she was crying and throwing a tantrum the metal scan went off (maybe she touched the sides ) because it went off she had to be patted down and wanded . Yeah she was an obvious threat to my flying safety ...I am sure . meanwhile since they are so busy with this fiasco how many real threats were missed .

Freakin common sense is not being used . Maybe TSA will give them a course on that for their employees.

It is a huge problem that these people selected to do scanning and searches are NOT well trained in using common sense. News reports are now showing many cases of "OOps our agent was not trained effectivally in handling this situation " How comforting ....not .

The 71 yr old man that told them he had a knee replacement ,he was man handled and ultimately humiliated when the TSA agent pulled on his pants during the pat down causing them to fall to the floor in front of everyone .

Or the four yr old disabled child forced to remove his leg braces and made to try to walk w/o them even though his parents told the agents this was not possible for him to do comfortably w/o support .

If we allow this conduct to continue unchecked how far will it go ? How much will we give up ?
